Parent Education & Support
Family Support: A Cornerstone of Healing
At Second Nature, we believe that family involvement is essential to the success of a child’s therapeutic journey. That’s why we offer weekly opportunities for parents to receive support, gain insight, and grow alongside their child.
Every week, families are invited to engage in one of two formats:
Parent Support Group: Connection Through Shared Experience
One week features our Parent Support Group, a virtual space where parents can connect with others who are walking a similar path. It’s a powerful reminder that you’re not alone—sharing experiences, struggles, and hope with others who truly understand can be both grounding and uplifting. These sessions provide emotional validation, reduce isolation, and build a supportive network for families navigating similar challenges.
Parent Education & Insight Series: Tools for Growth and Lasting Change
On alternating weeks, we host our Parent Education & Insight Series—a virtual psychoeducational group designed to support parents in becoming active participants in their family’s therapeutic process. These groups are more than just information sessions; they are thoughtfully crafted to foster insight, awareness, and skill-building that directly supports both personal growth and family healing.
Parents gain a deeper understanding of how past experiences, automatic reactions, and communication habits influence family dynamics—and how shifting those patterns can create space for more trust, connection, and change. Sessions offer practical tools such as setting healthy boundaries, improving emotional regulation, and learning communication skills that mirror what students are practicing in the field. This alignment strengthens the therapeutic process and helps families prepare for a healthier and more connected reunification.
Ultimately, the Parent Education & Insight Series helps families not just understand what their child is working on, but grow alongside them. It’s a chance to pause, reflect, and actively participate in creating a more intentional and resilient family foundation.
Together, these weekly offerings provide a strong foundation of support for families—helping parents grow alongside their children, deepen connection, and become more confident and intentional in their parenting.
